Looking for fun-filled activities this February half-term? Look no further! Here is a list of low cost or free family friendly things to do this half-term. From science to nature, there’s something to please everyone on this list!
1. Banham Zoo - Kids go free! (February 15th-23rd): With hundreds of amazing animals, is a fantastic place for families to spend the day. And this half term, kids go free if you book in advance! So now it’s even more accessible for every lemur-lover, flamingo-fan or snake-supporter to get up close and personal with a range of exotic species. Plus, because we all know that the weather doesn’t always play ball this time of year, Banham Zoo’s Rainy-Day Guarantee makes sure you can return for free if rainfall continues for over an hour!
2. Norwich Science Festival (February 15th–22nd): The Norwich Science Festival offers a variety of free events suitable for all ages. Visit The Explorium at The Forum, which features interactive zones with hands-on science experiences like drawing robots, flight simulators, and creative crafts. The Explorium is open daily from 10 am to 4 pm during the festival.
3. Imagination Fuel at Norwich Theatre (February 17th–21st): Norwich Theatre is hosting "Imagination Fuel," a series of free creative sessions for families. These workshops encourage play and creativity, and each session concludes with a complimentary lunch for children. Pre-booking is recommended.
4. Castle Quarter Wipeout Challenge (Thursday 20th February): Get ready for an unforgettable adventure at Castle Quarter this February half-term with our Wipeout Challenge! Perfect for kids, teens, and even adults who are young at heart, this inflatable game will have you jumping, dodging, and laughing the day away. The ‘last person standing’ in each round will be entered into a prize draw to win £100 to spend at Castle Quarter.
5. Magnificent Materials at Norwich Cathedral (Wednesday 19th February): Children can have fun exploring the magnificent materials that Norwich Cathedral is made of in our half-term activity day! The Magnificent Materials Children’s Activity Day takes place on Wednesday 19 February and features activities inspired by wood, metal, glass, stone, fabric and more. Families can just turn up on the day and, for £2.50 per child, take part in a trail around the Cathedral and enjoy various craft activities.
There are also three special workshops about stone, sewing and stained glass and these must be booked in advance.
6. In the Picture: Art and Nature at Norwich Castle (19 October 2024 – 23 February 2025): Visit Norwich Castle this February half-term to enjoy family activities related to their special exhibition, JMW Turner and Changing Visions of Landscape. Exploring artists' approaches to landscape from the 17th century to the present day, this major new exhibition celebrates the 250th anniversary of the birth of JMW Turner, one of the most influential artists in the history of western art.
Relax and immerse yourself in different visions of landscape and let your creativity flow as you make your own ideal landscape!
7. Fantastic February at Roarr! (February 15th-23rd): There’s loads of super special events happening this half-term. (And with each ticket, every child gets a free toy, whilst mums and dads can enjoy a complimentary tea or coffee). As well as all your favourite attractions, there’s dancing, games and a silent disco, a Terrific Top Trumps competition, story time and meet-and-greet with Dippy himself, crafts, and the chance to meet some adorable animals- phew!
